Primary responsibilities include:

    • Prepare and review Business, Individual, and Trust tax returns
    • Assist with planning, budgeting and overseeing the job efficiency on tax engagements
    • Calculate quarterly estimated payments
    • Identify, research and asses various tax issues for clients
    • Draft responses to notices from the IRS and State taxing authorities
    • Manage Client Business Relationships
    • Supervise, train and review the work of Staff Tax Accountants on tax engagements

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

    • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related area
    • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
    • At least 4 years of experience in the tax area of public accounting
    • Real Estate and Construction Experience is a plus
    • Technical review experience
    • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
    • Experience using ProSystems Engagement and QuickBooks

  • Performs specific audit procedures or tasks as assigned by the in-charge auditor.
  • Writes narratives and conclusions based on the findings derived from the audit procedures.
  • Prepares working trial balances for specific funds or account groups using financial statements, accounting records, etc.
  • Organizes working papers to be used in writing the final audit or review report.
  • Assists in preparing final drafts of audit and review reports.
  • Knowledge of the basics in income taxation.
  • Prepare detail Federal and state income tax support schedules to be used in tax preparation.
  • Preparation of entry level income tax returns for both individuals and various business entities.
  • Organize tax files to support current year tax filings in a paperless office environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Tax department Senior or In-charge Accountant

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or taxation desirable
  • 1 – 4 years public accounting and a CPA or CPA candidate
  • Excellent time management and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing Business, Individual, and Trust Tax Returns
  • Manage Client Business Relationships
  • Supervise, train and review the work of Staff Tax Accountants on tax engagements
  • Plan, budget and oversee job efficiency for tax engagements
  • Tax planning and structuring including tax research and writing of technical memoranda
  • Review complex corporate, partnership, high net worth individual, fiduciary, and tax-exempt entity tax returns
  • Conduct tax research
  • Identify value-added solutions for clients
  • Maintain accurate records for client billing system

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the tax area of public accounting
  • Technical review experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Tax group operations experience a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess ( Workstream /AutoFlow), or equivalent programs, required

McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond (MKS&H), a progressive regional CPA/Business Consulting Firm, is in need of an experienced, professional Administrative Assistant for its Frederick, Maryland office You will be responsible for supporting all CPA and accounting staff in various manners. This role also includes heavy interaction and coordination with our clients, so a pleasant and professional demeanor is of utmost importance. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support client service initiatives by assisting with correspondence, financial statement processing, tax return assembly and special projects. 
  • Assistance with monthly billing, collections, and accounts payables.
  • Provide technical and non-technical support to internal and external clients as a member of a firmwide support team.
  • Support internal service departments with computer skills (Adobe, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), filing, research or other projects as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup resource for various department tasks, including reception desk coverage.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • 4+ years of administrative experience, preferably in a professional services firm (Some knowledge of accounting preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in deliverables.
  • Professional demeanor with clients, coworkers, and the handling of confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven workplace.
  • Candidates should be comfortable learning new software applications and tackling tasks on short notice.
  • Billing experience and knowledge of billing software/spreadsheets preferred; ability to perform special analysis as required.
  • Candidates should also be willing to take initiative and have the ability to work relatively unsupervised with regard to daily and routine activities.
