Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and/or review Business, Individual, Partnership and Trust tax returns
  • Assist with planning, budgeting and overseeing the job efficiency on tax and small business write up engagements
  • Calculate quarterly estimated payments
  • Identify, research and asses various tax issues for clients
  • Draft responses to notices from the IRS and State taxing authorities
  • Manage Client Business Relationships
  • Supervise, train and review the work of Staff Tax Accountants on tax engagements

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related area
  • CPA or CPA candidate required
  • At least 4 years of experience in the tax area of public accounting
  • Real Estate and Construction Experience a plus
  • Technical review experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Experience using ProSystems Engagement and QuickBooks

  • Assist Senior Accountants with audit and accounting engagements, including planning, budgeting and overseeing the job efficiency.
  • Develop and prepare complete, accurate and orderly workpapers.
  • Supervise, train and review the work of Staff Accountants on audit/review engagements.
  • Prepare client financial statements.
  • Research GAAP and financial accounting matters.
  • Work independently on larger engagements and assist in compiling information into final report.
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of client’s business, systems and procedures, recognizing control weaknesses and recommending proper disposition.
  • Maintaining client confidence by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintaining firm’s reputation by complying with regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and MACPA.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualified applicants will possess:

  • 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or candidate preferred
  • 2-6 years experience in public accounting auditing and review, to include overseeing staff accountants

  • Writes narratives and conclusions based on the findings derived from the audit procedures.
  • Prepares working trial balances for specific funds or account groups using financial statements, accounting records, etc.
  • Organizes working papers to be used in writing the final audit or review report.
  • Assists in preparing final drafts of audit and review reports.
  • Knowledge of the basics in income taxation.
  • Prepare detail Federal and state income tax support schedules to be used in tax preparation.
  • Preparation of entry level income tax returns for both individuals and various business entities.
  • Organize tax files to support current year tax filings in a paperless office environment.

  • Supervise, train and review the work of Staff Tax Accountants on tax engagements
  • Plan, budget and oversee job efficiency for tax engagements
  • Tax planning and structuring including tax research and writing of technical memoranda
  • Review complex corporate, partnership, high net worth individual, fiduciary, and tax-exempt entity tax returns
