Combat These Security Risks Before You Lose Your Business

Combat These Security Risks Before You Lose Your Business

Is it safe to say that you keep hearing your business is in danger of being broken down and completely stolen from underneath you? Who is going to steal your business? Your dog. Your cat. Your daughter is going to steal your business from you, and you yourself are going to steal your business from you. If you are an employee of a nice company with a wonderful job, your pets, your children, even you, are going to cause you to lose your job.

This isn’t just about passwords, but let’s start right there. Your dog, Fluffy1? How about your daughter, Madison98? Your birthday, 092272? The person who steals your identity, your business, your job, will start with those simple facts about you. Where do they get them? Facebook. Twitter. Newspaper articles you’re in for things you have successfully done in life.

Then there’s the other area you need to combat for yourself and your business: your home. What is good for your business and job is good for your home as well right? Remember your daughter? She’s on your laptop, searching on the web, not saving passwords, or not using a password to log into her computer. Clicking on the wrong link on a website installs a virus, and allows access to the home network.

Make sure you observe all of the same practices at home that you do at work. Log off of your computers and lock them. Place your computers in designated areas and make sure that your WiFi passwords are either directly from your internet service provider or created with long phrases that do not have anything to do with you or your family.

For more information and extra details on what to do in these situations, please contact your experienced IT consultant and Managed Services Provider. These are the professionals that are trained (in-house) to tighten the hatches and help you with your overall business goals.
